Happy 4th of July!!

Well, we celebrated Kamdens's first 4th of July yesterday..it was a fun day! We went to Albany's swim park, the COOL pool. We went with our friends the Buhls.. there is a photo of Leeann sitting in the water.. Kajsa had fun until she swallowed some water, then she kept saying "I scare me the water".. which means "I am scared of the water". Kamden seemed pretty indiferent to it all, but it was fun to be outside and in the water! :)

After all this fun we took a good nap, and later headed off the Monthieth park to see the fireworks. We sat with the Flamings, Kajsa enjoyed spending time with Desiree, and sat with Dean. We saw fireworks, which Kajsa loved and Kamden slept through, and then went home and Kasja and Daddy did some sparklers and pop-its. Overall, it was a fun-filled day!

A New Post!

Yes... I am finnaly posting something new.. sorry it took so long! It is certainly different with two kids, finding time to do anything is a challenge. I did take some cute photos of the kids in sailor suits yesterday that I just have to share. Kamden is doing very well, currently 11 lbs, 10 ozs, and 23 inches long. He smiles and will "talk" to you, which I LOVE! :) I will try and post some more photos later!

Home & Doing Well

So we are all home, we got released from the hospital on Friday, so we only had to stay for two nights! I am feeling very good, and am only taking Motrin every once in a while for pain. Kamden is also doing well, although he is fighting some jaundice, so we are spending lots of time by the window. I took Kajsa and Kamden out to the studio the other night to get some photos, thought I would share some..

Kamden's First Photo Shoot

Yeah, my kid is only hours old and I had to get some "profesional" photos taken...major abdominal surgery and all.. :) Here is his baby announcement and a couple other photos of baby Kamden.. I am doing well, and looking forward to being home and in my own comfortable bed. We might be able to go home today, but almost for sure tommorow. Enjoy the photos!!

Brief Gender Mixup

Toby writes:

In the OR ("operating room" for the acronym-challenged like myself), the doctor had just pulled Kamden out of mommy's tummy and the nurse had held Kamden up for Eroica and I to see. I had heard the word "boy" bandied about several times, but was too busy snapping crucial pictures that Eroica wanted to check for myself during the few seconds the nurse had displayed Kamden for us.

So my heart skipped a beat when the anesthesiologist said, "Wait a second. It's a boy, right?" A nurse replied, "I thought I heard 'girl'." I leaned over and saw that the nurse had written "girl" up on a whiteboard. Luckily the doctor injected, "Boy, boy, boy!" to set the record straight, and Eroica confirmed that she was pretty sure that she saw boy parts. My pulse was able to recede to normal levels.

Now I'm not saying I wouldn't have loved a girl just as much; I'm just saying that we had already picked out a boy name (and hadn't picked out a girl name), we already bought and received boy clothes and toys, and had convinced ourselves that one of each was just about right.

One more quick note on the incident, to stick up for my boy (literally). Kamden, it was not your fault the nurse made the mistake. It was solely a hearing error on her part, and in no way does it reflect on your manhood. Just wanted to be clear on that point.

Announcing the arrival of Kamden Ezekiel Bierly!

Kamden was born at 8:06am this morning and was 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 20" long.

(note: Toby accidentally typed in 18" as the length originally, but the correct length is 20")

If you come to visit us at the Salem Hospital, take Exit 253 off of I-5 and head West. Stay on Mission St. until you get to the Hospital. Turn right on Capitol St. (follow the sign for the Family Birth Center) and then left into the parking garage. We are in the Family Birth Center.

Only Hours Away!

Ok, so there is around 21 hours to go until my C-section, and I am pretty much a nervous wreck.. Just ask Toby, who was very confused as to why I kept breaking down into tears last night for no apparent reason.. I am happy/sad/scared/nervous/excited/nostalgic/hormonal... just take your pick. It just really hit me that our lives are about to change pretty drastically.. (for the better I am sure :) but still, it will be a big change. I am VERY excited though, and can't wait to see what he looks like! I have all my camera gear packed up and ready to go, and we will have the laptop so I should be able to post photos fairly quickly.. (Of course after major surgery I am going to be taking photos and playing with the computor right away... hahahaha) Anyway, I need to go do some laundry/dishes/packing/panicking, ect.. :) Deborah is heading over to keep me grounded.. I love my friends.. thank goodness for all of them!!!
